Antheus Telecom is a Telecommunications service provider to businesses. Our clients are resellers and communications providers, and one of them may have been trying to call you on behalf of one of its own contact centre customers.
While we own number ranges (original range holder), many numbers may have been ported to other providers in the same way you can move your mobile number from one operator to another.
If you have searched online and found that the number that has been making sales or marketing calls to you is provided by Antheus Telecom and you no longer wish to receive these unwanted calls, here’s our advice on what to do next:
What to do next:
1: Tell the person calling you that you no longer wish to receive calls from them. Ask them to place your number on their Do Not Call list. Once you have done this, they must not make any further calls to your number.
2: Register with the Telephone Preference Service. It is free to register, once you have registered a company should not make sales or marketing calls to you unless you have given them permission to do so. Please be aware that registering with the TPS won’t stop you from receiving unwanted calls from call centres abroad or from research companies. TPS only deal with telephone numbers that wish to opt out from sales and marketing calls.
3: If you have followed steps 1 and 2 and are still receiving unwanted calls from the same number, you should consider making a complaint to the relevant regulatory body. The Ofcom website has some useful information on how to go about this: View here.
If you are TPS registered and you have received a further call from a company who you have already told not to call again, please do let us know so that we can investigate this and take action to prevent any further calls.
A note on Telephone Number Spoofing – also known as CLI Spoofing.
As an industry, we are aware of an increasing issue with CLI spoofing – this is where a telephone call appears to come from a legitimate telephone number belonging to a reputable telecommunications network but in fact the call has originated from somewhere else. CLI spoofing is often linked to identity theft. Ofcom have some helpful information about CLI spoofing and what you can do to protect yourself. View more about Ofcom phone spoof scam.
If you suspect that the number you have been called from has been spoofed, you can contact your service provider, explain that the call appears to have come from a spoofed CLI and ask them to trace where the call has really come from. Most service providers have a nuisance calls department for dealing with these types of calls.
If the call you have received is from a spoofed Antheus Telecom number, there will be little we can do to help, but please be assured that as an industry we are working hard to combat this growing problem.
Whilst we continue to do due diligence and monitoring of our clients to the best of our ability, we welcome any reports of nuisance or scam calls. Please email us on investigations@antheus.co.uk or call us on 01626 336 888 so we can investigate properly and take action if the calls have originated on our network. **Note: You will at a minimum, need to provide us with the number that called you, as well as your number. Without this information it is impossible to investigate a complaint any further.
